8th pay commission facts and quick features

New Delhi:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday that the government’s decision to constitute the eighth pay commission will boost consumption and improve the quality of life.

We are all proud of the efforts of all Government employees, who work to build a Viksit Bharat. The Cabinet’s decision on the 8th Pay Commission will improve quality of life and give a boost to consumption
Mr. Vaishnaw said that even though the term of the Seventh Pay Commission ends in 2026, the Prime Minister had sanctioned the Eighth Pay Commission much before that. “Since 1947, seven Pay Commissions have been formed, and the last one came into effect in 2016. Since the term of the Seventh Pay Commission will end in 2026, starting it in 2025 will be enough time for receiving and discussing recommendations before it is completed,” he said while adding that the Centre would make sure that recommendations of the Eighth Pay Commission reached them well in advance of the completion of the term of the Seventh Pay Commission. He said that, after being constituted, the commission would hold extensive consultations with Union and State governments and other stakeholders before making its recommendations to the government.
